David is also a consultant, business coach, keynote speaker and 3x best-selling author.
His life’s mission is to empower OVER 1 BILLION people to be happy! This simple yet powerful mission has led him on an incredible journey to provide one thing…VALUE.
What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
The power of compound interest. Use 20 year plan example. In year 18 I’ll be at 25%. In year 19 that doubles to 50% and in year 20 I’ll be at 100%, and so on. People struggle to blend patience with the pragmatic, and I believe firmly in that power of compound interest, forcing one to keep going and going to achieve their goals, because 99% quit before they’re 25% of the way there. They believe that in year 10 of a 20 year plan, they should be at 50%, but that just isn’t he case.
How were you as a student?
I was a good student. Not great. I came from a family of academics, doctor/lawyer/failure was my mother’s motto. I differentiated myself by being the athlete of our family.
How has a failure, or apparent failure, set you up for later success? Or, Do you have a favorite failure of yours??
I lost 100million in 08 but I actually hit rock bottom in 06…. That failure allowed me to realize that I was living for the wrong reasons, I had lost my gratitude, and that I was going to lose more than just money if I didn’t have a change in my mindset and heart set.
What has become more important to you in the last few years and what has become less important?
Throughout this pandemic, family time has really become important. It always was, but before I would sacrifice some family time for work, but now, I do my best to not allow work to interfere with family time.
What habit do you have now that you wish you started much earlier?
My practice of ending fear. Every day I take inventory of my values. I identify my conscious and subconscious fears, and every day, I take steps to actively recognize and overcome those things. Through meditation, breathing, and introspection, I act as a ferocious buddha, and when I enter into those things, I identify, stop, drop, and roll.
What are the top three things you want to accomplish before you die? How close are you to accomplishing them?
My #1 goal in life is to empower over 1 billion people to be happy. I do this by segmentation. If I can get 2 people to get 2 people and so on, in 20 years, through compounding effects, I will have reached over 1 billion people.
In 19 years, I’ll be 50% of the way there to my 20 year goal!
Who would you most like to sit next to on a 10 hour flight and why?
Warren Buffett. I’d love to ask how or why he thinks when the market is oversold and overbought. If I could do that, I could make billions and use that money to effectuate my goals.
What is your motto for life?
Be kind to your future self and do good deeds…
As part of that mission, for the past 20 years, he’s been providing free weekly trainings to empower others to empower others to be happy.
Be kind to your future self and do good deeds.
